To: All FORBS members, fellow Santas and friends in the Santa community.
The Fraternal Order of Real Bearded Santas (FORBS) and the 2010 Santa
Jamboree Steering Committee are today announcing our decision to
postpone the International Santa Jamboree, scheduled for later this
summer. New dates for the rescheduling are being worked out as are
details for refunds to all registered Santas, Sponsors and Vendors.
We have realized that the current registrations for the Jamboree are
insufficient to sustain the first-class event we planned. Even though
America's economy is recovering, the results have not reached all areas
of our society. Things may be getting better, but we have concluded that
the current economic climate is still a problem.
We know those Santas, Sponsors and Vendors, who have already registered,
would not have received the size or quality of Jamboree they were
expecting. Proceeding with the Jamboree, knowing this, would be unfair
the hotel, all who had registered and financially irresponsible.
FORBS and the Crowne Plaza Anaheim Resort Hotel have agreed to postpone
the Santa Jamboree until 2012. This decision was confirmed last evening
at the monthly FORBS Board of Director's Meeting.
Currently we are working to arrange refunds of all registration, sponsor and vendor deposits and payments An
announcement regarding the refunds, whether via PayPal or by check, will
be made in a few days.
In the coming weeks we will be sending out a survey presenting options
on new dates being offered by the hotel and inviting input on when we
should re-schedule the Jamboree.
In closing, we would be remiss if we did not thank our Jamboree
volunteers and the Crowne Plaza Anaheim Resort Hotel for their dedicated
work, cooperation and assistance in the planning of the Jamboree.
